Vertigo is something that many people suffer from. For some, it is something that happens just once, for others, it is something that happens often. 1. Pumpkin Seed and Almonds
This remedy can be prepared and you can drink it several times a day if you are having repeated bouts of vertigo.
A pinch of pumpkin seeds
3 tablespoons of wheat
1 cup of milk
1/4 cup of water
Begin by taking the almonds, the pumpkin seeds, and the wheat and combine them. Allow them to soak in water overnight. In the morning, grind them into a paste. Next, add two cloves to the paste and mix well. In a small saucepan, mix the paste with the milk and bring to a boil. Be sure to allow the remedy to cool down before you drink it.
2. Ginger Tea
Ginger is known for its properties to prevent nausea. What most people do not know is that it stops dizziness as well. Studies have shown that ginger is more effective than over the counter remedies.
1/2 inch piece of ginger root
1 cup of water
In a small saucepan, boil the water, then add the ginger root. Allow to continue boiling for about 5 minutes. Be careful when you drink it as it will be very hot.
If you do not like tea, you can also try chewing on ginger candy. It can also be very effective in treating vertigo.
3. Chamomile Tea
Chamomile tea is excellent for calming vertigo. Because vertigo can be triggered by stress, chamomile can help by calming your nerves.
3 teaspoons of dried chamomile flowers
8 ounces of water
In a small saucepan, combine the water and the chamomile. Allow the water to boil for about 5 minutes. Be careful when you drink this, it will be very hot.
4. Ice Water
It may seem very simple; however, many people have calmed their vertigo by drinking 2 glasses of ice water, one after the other.
5. Indian Gooseberry
This is an excellent remedy; however, it needs to be prepared the night before using it.
3 pieces of Indian gooseberry
Soak the Indian gooseberry and the coriander in a small amount of water overnight. In the morning, consume the remedy. You should be feeling better in no time.
6. Ginko Biloba
This herb has been known to calm the symptoms of vertigo. It can be found in the form of a pill in most pharmacies and grocery stores.
7. Black Cohosh
This herb is excellent when calming vertigo that has been brought on by high blood pressure. This herb should not be used by pregnant women.
There are certain things that a person can do to prevent a vertigo episode before it starts.
8. Stop Smoking
If you are a smoker, it is a good idea to stop. Smoking can cause attacks of vertigo and the tobacco can also make vertigo remedies less effective.
9. Elevate Your Head While Sleeping
If you often suffer from vertigo, it is a good idea to sleep with your head elevated. When small calcium carbonate crystals in your middle ear float around, it can affect your equilibrium and this can cause vertigo.
10. Avoid Extending Your Neck
When you extend your neck, you can possibly cause the small calcium crystals to become dislodged from your middle ear. This can cause an episode of vertigo. It is also a good idea not to lower your head beneath the shoulders. This movement can also cause the crystals to become dislodged.
